Membership Approves New Contract
May 28, 2017
The proposed contract was overwhelmingly ratified by the membership, with 214 ballots tallied on May 26. Of that total, 211 votes were to ratify the contract; three were against. A bill to fund the pay increases will be introduced in Albany shortly. After expected passage of the bill, we anticipate the governor will sign it by the end of June and the comptroller will process the changes in July. We are on track to receive retroactive pay by the end of August, and the new salary schedules will be in effect starting with the first pay check in September.

Proposed Contract Ratified By Overwhelming Margin
February 16, 2015
The ballots for ratification of the proposed 2011-2016 contract were opened and tallied this afternoon by a committee of Executive Board members. We received 205 Yes votes and 12 No votes. A very big thanks to Frank Ghezzi, Tina Chan Scanlon, Lisa Headley, Al Digiulio, Myles Baer, and Yacine Barry, some of whom traveled long distances in frigid temperatures, to participate in the process.
We have already notified OCA that the contract has been ratified, and they have initiated steps to effectuate the raises and new benefits. Barring any unforeseen problem, the first 2% raise, plus retroactive money on that 2% going back to last October, plus the $1000 signing bonus will be included in the March 25 paycheck. The second 2% raise, plus any applicable increments or longevity bonuses, will be included in the April 22 paycheck.
We will also begin working shortly on plans to distribute the $550 supplemental welfare benefit (similar to the old QTP benefit) and the new professional development money, as soon as the funds are received from the Office of the State Comptroller. Claims forms will be available for download from this website when that happens.
Thanks to all of you who voted. While not an ideal contract, in view of the realities we were facing, it will provide decent increases and benefits and place us in a good position from which to bargain the next contract, starting in 2016.
